Intro To Top Rope Belay is a one time class for beginners looking learn how to top rope at MetroRock, or for climbers needing to refresh their skills.

This class is designed to teach you the skills you’ll need to take a belay test at our facility

You’ll learn:

  • What gear is used to top rope climb in a gym environment

  • Steps to preform a thorough pre-climb check

  • Commands & how to communicate with your climber

  • How to properly load an ATC

  • Belaying, lowering, and catching a climber on the wall

  • How to tie in with a figure 8 follow through + a fisherman’s backup
